2011 - Certificate Courses
The first three courses of the Master's of Educational Technology program offered me a great chance to learn some basic ways to use technology in my classroom. I completed these courses online and appreciated the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues on group projects as well as in discussion forums. These courses helped develop my passion for educational technology and gave me the reassurance I needed to continue in the program. For a more detailed description of my learning in the certificate courses, check out my blog.
CEP 812: Applying Educational Technologies to Issues of Practice
Spring 2012 - C. Commeret
For my final certificate course, I was able to apply my new knowledge to a problem in my class (Wicked Problem Project). I also increased my knowledge of TPACK and continued to reflect through my blog. I also learned about screencasting using Jing and had an opportunity to set goals for my future as a teacher (as outlined in this presentation using Prezi).
CEP 811: Adapting Innovation Technologies in Education
Fall 2011 - J. Spicer, E. Stone
During this second course, I was pushed to take the next step in my educational technology journey. I was introduced to the concept of "NEW" (Novel, Effective, and Whole) as it relates to technology. I continued to build my blog and my PLN. I was also able to learn a new feature of PowerPoint and create a StAIR (Stand Alone Instructional Resource) to use in my U.S. History classroom. CEP 810: Teaching for Understanding with Technology
Summer 2011 - J. Spicer
This was my first course in educational technology. It was a foundational course in which I learned about things like TPACK, building a Personal Learning Network (PLN), and blogging for reflection.
